Team Mission Statement
It is the goal of each Prime Mover to leave the team as a responsible adult, capable of working as a member or a leader of any team, while also leaving a positive and lasting legacy on our community about the importance of hard work and perseverance. Our team strives to be exemplary gracious and professional at any event we attend, with the central mission of promoting STEM and the ideals of FIRST.
Origin
F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers, and the F.I.R.S.T. robotics competition was launched in 1992. Team 31, The Prime Movers, competed for the first time in 1993, thus becoming the only team in Oklahoma to participate in the FRC competition at that time. Even with our many years of experience, we are constantly striving to adapt and improve ourselves. Since our start, we have prepared all of our team members to rise to the challenges of teamwork, leadership, and engineering both during high school and beyond. Future Plans
We currently have 15 members on our robotics team. Our expanded working space allows us to achieve our goals productively with more people and we intend to make full use of this. As of this year, Jenks Public Schools have 6 different FIRST teams as a result of the work we have done. We plan to expand this program to every Jenks campus and to other school districts as well. Currently, FIRST only has teams at a select few of the schools at Jenks, and we will change this to include every campus.
Members
Each member chooses a subgroup within the team. We believe everyone has the choice to pursue their preferred field. Our subteams are: Mechanical, Electrical/Programming, CAD, and Public Relations

- Green Country Regional - Tulsa Expo Pavilion - March 6th-9th, 2024
- Oklahoma Regional - OK Expo Hall - April 4th-6th, 2024
Future Plans
- Host the FLL Tournament at Jenks Fall 2024
- The Prime Movers are working on creating a FIRST Pipeline at Jenks Public Schools. Having all levels of FIRST programs available to all Jenks campuses.
- Operate our updated t-shirt cannon robot at school pep rallies and other community events

F.I.R.S.T.
(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international youth organization that operates four different STEM-based competitions based on age group. Founded by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers in 1989, its goal is to develop ways to inspire students in engineering and technology fields. It is also noted for its philosophy of cooperative competition, which is expressed by the organization as cooperation and gracious professionalism.
Cooperatition
Cooperatition produces innovation. At FIRST, Cooperatition is displaying unqualified kindness and respect in the face of competition. It is founded on the concept and a philosophy that teams can and should help and cooperate with each other even as they compete. It is teaching and learning from teammates. It is learning from mentors. It is managing and being managed. Cooperatition means competing always, but assisting and enabling others when you can
Gracious Professionalism
Gracious Professionalism is a main portion of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.
With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. Knowledge, competition, and empathy are comfortably blended.
FRC
FRC stands for FIRST Robotics Competition. Dubbed a varsity Sport for the Mind, FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of about 25 students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” develop teamwork skills, and build a robot as well as program it to perform specific tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real world” engineering as a student can get on this level. Professional Mentors volunteer their time and talents to guide each team.
